Affiliated with the Trichy SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, part of the SRM Group in Tiruchirapalli, Dr. Prabhusaran has established himself as a leading figure in microbiology. His academic journey is marked by excellence, having completed post-graduate studies in Applied Microbiology, followed by a Doctorate in Medical Microbiology, and later earning a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in the same discipline. His rigorous academic background laid the foundation for his groundbreaking research in infectious diseases.
A pivotal moment in Dr. Prabhusaran’s career came in 2001 when he and his research team provided the first documented evidence of leptospiral infection linked to the Australis serogroup of the Ballico strain. This discovery, made under the mentorship of Dr. K. Natarajaseenivasan, a renowned scientist and director at the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) in Dibrugarh, North East India, significantly advanced the understanding of leptospirosis epidemiology.
Beyond his research, Dr. Prabhusaran has been honored with multiple fellowships, including the Fellow of the Society of Applied Biotechnology (FSAB), Fellow of the International Science Congress Association (FISCA), and Fellow of the Association of Nanotechnological Applications (FANTA).
